Eligibility
- Master's Degree in Chemistry, or
- Degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agriculture Science, Veterinary Science, Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology or Medicine, or
- Degree from a recognised university, meeting the listed discipline conditions as per the notified rules
- Basic computer knowledge (certificate needed; candidates without it must pass a test before appointment)
- Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both
- No person with a financial interest in the manufacture, import or sale of food can be appointed

Selection Process
Selection is based on a single-stage MCQ competitive exam held in CBRT/OMR mode. It is followed by document verification and a merit-based selection list prepared by GSSSB for the office of the Commissioner, Food and Drugs Control Administration.
