Age limit
- Flying branch: 20–24 years as on 1 January 2028 (expected window: born 2 January 2004 – 1 January 2008); up to 26 with a valid CPL
- Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical): 20–26 years (born 2 January 2002 – 1 January 2008, expected)
- No age relaxation; windows follow the AFCAT 1 2026 notification
Eligibility
- Flying: graduate (3 years, 60%) with Physics and Maths at 10+2, or BE/BTech with 60%
- Ground Duty (Technical): 4-year engineering degree (60%) with Physics and Maths at 10+2
- Ground Duty (Non-Technical): graduate with 60% (Accounts: B.Com 60%; Education: PG 50%)
- Final-year students can apply if the degree is completed before the date in the notification
- Unmarried candidates below 25 years; Indian citizen

- Fill the AFCAT 1 2027 form: branch preference, education, exam city
- Upload photo, signature, thumb impression and Class 10/12/degree marksheets
- Pay ₹550 + GST online and submit
- Download the admit card from the same login when released

AFCAT exam pattern

Online test with four sections: General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning & Military Aptitude. Shortlisted candidates attend the AFSB (5 days: psychological tests, GTO tasks, interview), then a medical examination.
What to do until the notification comes
- Solve AFCAT 2024, 2025 and 2026 papers; the pattern has been stable for years.
- Keep a 12-month current affairs file (defence news, awards, sports, science).
- Practise Numerical Ability (Class 10 level) for speed: 25 questions in 25 minutes.
