CUET Subject Selection: Course Mapping and Checklist
Choose CUET subjects after mapping each target university and course to its subject and Class 12 requirements. The NTA test-selection rule and a university admission rule serve different purposes. Use the checklist below, then verify the applicable year before submitting your form.
Start with your intended course
List the degree programmes you would realistically accept, then identify the universities offering them. Avoid choosing tests solely because classmates selected them. Two courses with similar names can require different subject combinations. Keep alternatives, but do not assume one combination covers every university.
What is the verified 2026 reference?
The CUET UG 2026 bulletin allows up to five tests, including languages and General Aptitude Test. Its test-selection flexibility does not override a university's programme eligibility. This is a 2026 reference, not confirmation of 2027 rules.
Make a course-to-subject worksheet
| University and course | Class 12 requirement | Required CUET tests | Admission registration | Source and year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Target 1: fill exact programme | Copy verified requirement | Record test names and codes | Record separate university process | Save bulletin URL and check date |
| Target 2: alternative | Check independently | Compare overlap with target 1 | Check registration deadline | Use applicable-year official source |
For each row, read the university's official admission bulletin rather than relying on a generic course list. Record whether a specific school subject, mark threshold, language or aptitude test is required. If wording is ambiguous, ask the university admission helpdesk before choosing a combination.
Choose the smallest combination that covers your priorities
Group overlapping requirements and check whether the permitted number of tests covers your preferred programmes. If it does not, reconsider course priorities before paying. Do not add General Aptitude Test automatically; check whether the intended programme uses it. Do not omit a required language just because it is not your strongest subject.
Check codes, syllabus and the saved application
Match each selected name to the official subject list and syllabus. Similar names can conceal different tests. Check the academic year, course name, medium and test code. After submitting, retain the confirmation page and verify that the saved choices match your worksheet. Corrections depend on the authority's current window.
Final pre-submission checklist
- Every preferred programme has a current official source.
- School-subject requirements and CUET requirements are checked separately.
- Every required test is covered within the permitted limit.
- Separate university registration is recorded.
- No future-year rule or deadline is assumed.
